The original software that comes with your smartphone when you purchase it is known as it's stock ROM. A custom ROM is a fully standalone version of the software which includes it's own kernel (which makes everything run), apps, services etc. which has been customized to add specific features to your device

Advantages of Custom ROMs

  • Better performance and efficiency
  • getting the latest version of Android
  • Ability to install apps to external memory

Disadvantages of custom ROMs
Please note that having a custom ROM is not all good. You may also face the following issues.
